Dunham Manor - Weird Cribs Version

Posted on 18 July 2008 - Blame this person -> Doanwanna Poopoo

Dunham ManorWith the recent story about Greggo’s salary of being half a million, one can only speculate about the salary of one George Dunham.

According to a very weird cribs version of the Dunham Manor some time ago, it would appear JUB JUB is doing quite well for himself.

The Hardline Responds to The Hard Lie

Posted on 10 July 2008 - Blame this person -> Doanwanna Poopoo

Hardline Responds to The Hard LieWhat a juicy time for Ticket fans! If you’ve read the other posts about Richie Whitt’s article “The Hard Lie”, then you are rubbing your hands together in anticipation for The Hardline’s response. Lucky for us, they decided to go a few segments into the subject and tell their side of the story. It’s definitely good to hear someone involved put some valid points into the story rather than just reading an article from an outside source. I’m just glad Corby put his side in because the article really made him out to be a backstabbing snake.

Reading over on Whitt’s blog, a lot of people said they were probably going to miss the audio. Guess what. . .that’s what TheUnTicket.com is for! I broke them down by segments:

Segment 1 - The Hardline’s response to “The Hard Lie”

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Segment 2 - Rhyner responds about phasing out Greggo

Segment 3 - Closing comments about the whole thing

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

FINALLY!! The question “Where’s Greggo?” has been answered. New question is, “Where’s the Greggo drops?”

Rainiacs - Sahara Rain Fans

Posted on 09 July 2008 - Blame this person -> Doanwanna Poopoo

From little dumb danny to big dumb dannyWe had a little update on the Sahara Rain tribute page. Well, I guess it’s more of a Danny Balis band history page. One of Danny’s old fans, a “Rainiac”, wanted to hear the Hardline talk about an email he sent in.

Sahara Rain - The Danny Balis Project

Posted on 30 June 2008 - Blame this person -> Doanwanna Poopoo

In case you missed pretty much all of the Hardline today, Danny’s late 80’s, early 90’s hair rock band, Sahara Rain, surfaced again with someone sending Queerby (Corby) an awesome band photo. The original is over at The Ticket dot com, but here is one pointing out where he is. Danny is the one on the far right with braces:

Sahara Rain Picture

What a great band photo! Well, the Hardline was referencing how Danny looked then and how he looks now. Figured I’d post a recent photo:

Mullet

Here is the tune I’m guessing is called “Kick It” from Sahara Rain:

I think it’s great how Danny is always beaten down about thinking most bands suck, which he’s not prejudice because he thinks his own band sucked. Danny, I think you’re a definite music snob, but I think this is great. You should hold on to your old roots!

Here is the entire Sahara Rain segment:

If anyone has more photos or where we can get Sahara Rain music, please leave a comment so we can put together a Sahara Rain tribute page.

**UPDATED**
I guess the guy that sent in the email discussed in this audio below commented here at The Unticket. He wanted to hear the segment about his email, plus he had a bit more to add. Here’s the audio, followed by his comment:

They talked about an e-mail from a guy who saw the rain at the basement and how Danny used to sling the bass around his back and catch it and how he high fived everybody while working the crowd. Danny was never more pissed off. Ever. I’m the guy who sent the email. Sahara was awesome. I feel the music. I didn’t get to hear the segment due to work but some co-workers told me about it. And I did see Sahara Rain at the Basement. It was all true, and Danny would also lick the neck of his bass real horny like during one song. I think it was “Groove Slave”.

Here are a few new images to the Sahara Rain tribute page. A Sahara Rain t-shirt and the front and back image of the Sahara Rain album “Livin In A World Gone”:

Radiohead Concert - Hardline Segment

Posted on 21 May 2008 - Blame this person -> Doanwanna Poopoo

IMG00056Sunday Night, May 18th, 2008, will go down as one of the most memorable concerts of my life. Radiohead, whom I had never seen in concert before, but absolutely can’t get enough of, was playing at Superpages.com (aka Starplex). The second the tickets went on sale, I was on ticketmaster trying to buy them. My first round was 4 reserved, then tried twice more and ‘thought’ I scored 8 more lawn tickets. Well, ticketmaster is smarter than I thought and they only sent me 4 reserved.

IMG00053This was an issue. I had 11 other friends that were already confirmed to go to the show, including 2 that flew in from Denver, but only 4 tickets. I finally decided this was going to be an awesome show and paid a visit to Stubhub.com. Eventually I had 12 VIP tickets that put us center stage, about 5-6 rows back from general admission. They were perfect seats for a perfect show.

Danny Balis and Corby Davidson were at the show, evidently right behind us which I’ll get to in a minute, but they did a segment on The Ticket about it. Play this audio while reading the rest (thanks to BabyArm for the audio):

Mind you, there were basically 12 people that are really good at drinking with us. We hit the ice house prior, which was after we had a pre-party. Needless to say once Radiohead hit the stage, we weren’t sober. You might think, “why be so drunk during a great show?”. Well, the show was a sobering experience, but was also intoxicating at the same time. It was surreal. I love going to concerts and use to see bands all the time in my younger years, but this was definitely the best concert I’ve ever seen. (Replaced Coldplay at Red Rocks, CO).

IMG00037During a quiet song “Exit Music (for a film)”, which you’ll hear Danny and Corby talk about, one of our friends decided it was a great point to scream “HOOK’EM HORNS!”. He has this knack about screaming things at the worst (or best) times and has a really loud yell. It was definitely a good laugh for us. (Side note: There was a heckler that yelled out “TOMMY” a bit into the song, which Thom kind of put in his place calling him a ‘funny guy’. This is what probably instigated our friend to yell out his Longhorn mating call. Our friend is around 2:18 of this video.)

If you’re reading this from a city where Radiohead is soon to play, I would highly recommend seeing the show. Like the Hardline said, though, if you aren’t that into Radiohead, I would suggest listening to their new cd “In Rainbows” beforehand. It is the majority of music played.

Here is the full set list Radiohead played in Dallas:
