Gordon Keith Show Canceled?

Posted on 31 January 2009 by Doanwanna Poopoo

While reading about the Gordo vs Nasty Nestor story on WFAA.com, (which I found by going to theticket.com, then not finding a link to gordonkeith.com, but then entering gordonkeith.com, but being told “your loved”, then being redirected to gordonkeith.wordpress.com and seeing the link that took me to wfaa.com ) I read the same thing I heard all day. If you listened all day like most P1’s, you know everything there is to know.

But something caught my eye at the very end of the article, let me show the screenshot:

gk-show

“formerly” ? ? ? If the show is still in existence and on a looong hiatus, why would they use the word formerly? If you watch, or watchED the show, you might remember when he had the psychic on where she told Gordon he will be moving on to a better opportunity. Then there is the last episode where he had Rhett Miller on and the last song he played, the lyrics mentioned something about moving on to something different (can’t remember the lyrics exactly) but the camera panned to Gordon, who looked like a little school girl, then softened up picture as he walked out of the studio. A very symbolic shot, kind of how you hoped the Sopranos would have ended. Then if you go to the GK Show site at WFAA, the last post says:

It’s also our last show before dry dock, we are going to take a long vacation. Will I die in the end? Will I get the girl?

After typing everything I did above, I went back reading through Gordon’s blog and one post it sounds like he wants to tell us it was canceled, but doesn’t. The comments say it over and over, but I couldn’t find anywhere that he actually said it. Maybe it was said on The Ticket and I missed it, but I’m sure someone will fill me in if that’s the case. I had already typed all this shit so I figured I’d throw it out anyway. Maybe it’s news to someone.

As some of those that commented on his blog mentioned, maybe a Rant television show? How about a Rant Cowboys Mystery Theater? Anyhow, stay hard.

Gordon Keith Goes Primetime

Posted on 04 June 2008 by Doanwanna Poopoo

Gordon Keith Becomes TV StarNot sure if you caught the GK Show last night during prime time television, but it was definitely great to see Gordo get the publicity. I personally enjoy the show and try to watch it whenever I can or if the tivo/dvr works.

He had Mark Cuban on, which made for an exciting interview. Gordo asked what Cuban thought of Josh Howard admitting to smoking pot during the playoffs. Cuban stated he thought it was definitely a great mark on Mavs history. Love the honesty.

Then the fun came. I guess Cuban recently admitted he had tried pot before. Then he goes on to tell the story how his pothead roommates pinned him down and blew “shotguns” in his face. He claims he had to try it the ‘right way’ and smoked it another time, but just coughed and didn’t care for it much. HA! “Right!”

Gordo also had Adam Sandler, aka ‘The Sandman’, on the show. Except he wasn’t on the show. It was a recording from last Saturday, he said. It was a weird interview where Sandler claimed he would have sex with 100+ year old women, “if he wasn’t married”.

The show was pretty good, but either I was expecting more or it just wasn’t as good as other’s I’ve seen. Maybe he had to be a little more tame for prime time, although Cuban was throwing out quite a few curse words that had to be bleeped out. The worst part was when he ended the show saying they would be back during their ‘normal time’. I was kinda hoping they would move him to a good time from now on.

Way to be a TV Star Gordo.

What Is Up With Gordon Keith?

Posted on 29 May 2008 by Doanwanna Poopoo

Gordon & Friend JesusNot sure if you guys caught his post Gordon made last night, but it was taken down for some reason. Maybe WFAA didn’t want him promoting it or something, but great news.

The Gordon Keith Show is moving to prime time next Tuesday night, June 3, 7:00pm. That’s awesome. If you are like me and try to watch it at 11:52 on Saturday nights, or whenever it comes on, it’s next to impossible if you try and tivo it, let alone watch it. Sometimes it doesn’t even come on.

If you haven’t watched a GK Show, do yourself a favor and give it a watch. It’s a great show and I’m eager to see him fill an hour now. Maybe he won’t have to cut people off so quick like he did the great Troy Aikman (very uncomfortable).

Here’s a link to the GK Show blog. They have links to all the episodes on WFAA if you missed one or just want to watch one.

Congrats Gordo !

Black Tie Dynasty – Gordon Keith Show

Posted on 24 February 2008 by Doanwanna Poopoo

I’m a big late night TV watcher and love watching the talk shows. Obviously when Gordon announced his late night talk show, I was “N”. Definitely had a shaky start, but I could see the possibilities in it. He seemed to try too hard at first, but I think he has such a big audience already from the ticket, the show had to have decent numbers. Then they moved him from Thursday nights to Saturday nights. What a huge move. With the writers strike, no big deal, but now that SNL is back, he is competing with SNL’s last half hour. Tough call.

Anyhow, just a brief intro to the Gordon Keith show. If you don’t watch, you definitely should. I think he needs an hour though. Between commercials and a short time, everything seems rushed. But this post is about Gordon’s musical guest this past weekend, Black Tie Dynasty. I first heard of this band through the Hardline. Corby was having his Nude Music Thursday session and played their music.

I don’t know about how everyone else judges new music, but usually I can tell if I like something within the first 5-10 seconds of a song. I’d say 95% of the time my intuition is right. Black Tie Dynasty’s first few seconds hit an internal chord for me. It had the influences of bands from the 80’s that I couldn’t get enough of, like Depeche Mode, The Cure and Echo and the Bunnymen. I love to hear this sound coming back around and people are taking to it. I loved it then, I love it now. I’d say I’m a connoisseur of music, but I’m definitely not a musical snob like big dumb Danny, the afternoon cloud. Danny reminds me of my old bands singer. He always seemed to hate music that was popular but liked music made by local bands he knew personally somehow.

So back to Black Tie Dynasty, if you like music, or if you liked the sounds of the 80’s mentioned above, you need to give them a listen. Their performance on Gordon’s show was great too. The bass player looked like a bass player, messy, uncoordinated, horrible look, yet was great at playing the bass. The lead singer/guitar player has a cool look and most of all he has great moves. It’s always interesting to see a band members moves on stage because some people really get into it, some people try too hard, some people are just way out of their element.

Ok, I’ve rambled too long. Go check out Black Tie Dynasty. Here are some links to check out:

Gordon Keith Show – UnTicket In Audience

Posted on 10 February 2008 by Doanwanna Poopoo

JJ spoke with the Gordon Keith show about acquiring tickets for the next Gordon Keith show. Carrie responded with the statement there would be 4 tickets saved for our group. Then she (Carrie) even sent a follow up email saying “EVERYONE WANTS TO COME ARE YOU SURE?” We responded saying “YES, WE ARE ALL IN!” The funny thing is when we showed up after spending some drinking time at the HOB (House of Blues), we surveyed the studio audience area, which had around 50 seats. Then we surveyed the crowd waiting to get inside of the Gordon Keith Television show extravaganza. The 2+2 wasn’t equaling 4. We had a LOT more people waiting to go into the studio than there were actual seats.

Since we had actually reserved seats for the show, we elbowed and kicked our way into the studio to get a spot and was about 3 rows deep. The studio audience was great and bigger than expected, but here’s the shitter.. .there was no actual guest NOR was there an actual musical guest to perform for us!! It was all pre-recorded. What was live were the Gordon in between comments. He’s a funny mother fucker!! Like funny “HA HA”. Not funny “Heh”.

So the guest was Cedric the Entertainer, pre-recorded, but Gordo did a great interview. He spoke to him how we’d expect him to speak to someone. He started off by saying, “I hate to get personal or uncomfortable, but, you are a black man, right?” It was funny stuff. Gordo also asked if there were jokes about white people that black people told we would enjoy like the fact we smell like wet puppies. Cedric mentioned talking like white people is always a good laugh..

Then we move to the musical guest, “The Last Goodnight” performed Pictures of You during the day, before we were there, of course. Being a musician, I was most looking forward to seeing live music at the GK Show, but was disappointed with a pre-recorded PIECE OF CRAP! OK, first off, the singer looks like the dude Blake Lewis from American Idol last season. Then who’s the keyboardist? What makes him so cool that he has to wear dark shades in the middle of the day inside a studio? The only cool person in this band was the guitar player. Only because he wasn’t pretentious and played his instrument without all the antics. “THEY SUCKED!”

The overall experience was fun and interesting because we got to see how GK did his show. We’re huge hard P1’s and want to do him justice. Gordo had this weird frozen face syndrome where he felt like he couldn’t move or it would mess up his hair or makeup. Anyhow Gordo was greatness and we’re glad we went. Hopefully next time he’ll have people in the studio. If not, maybe we can tackle him, shave our initials into his hair and show our appreciation.

After the show Gordon was waiting outside to greet the audience, which I thought was awesome because he hates people. Gordo first got hit by JJ and then I said “Hey dude” and then introduced myself as “Doanwanna Poopoo”. Gordon, hating weird situations as he does, quickly turned his face in confusion and moved on to the next person. I’m not sure if it was the Greggo situation/line or if he just gets the weird shit all the time and moves on to the next person, but it was some funny shit.
