Dallas – Sportatorium – BREAKING NEWS: Mark “Friedo” Friedman Leaves The Ticket.

Richie Whitt is reporting on Sportatorium that Mark Friedman is leaving the Ticket for the APD position at ESPN Radio.  He will also be producing the Michael Irvin show.

Looks like we have a full fledged war on our hands between KTCK, ESPN and The Fan.  Well, at least between The Ticket and ESPN.  I don’t think the Fan ever quite counts enough to matter.

“Friedo may be the next name to leave The Ticket, but something tells me he won’t be the last.”

What the hell? Was he on-air? No and I say as long as the on-air talent stay intact, the Ticket will still be the Ticket. Not to say he didn’t do a good job, I know he did a fantastic job – people don’t keep a job for that long if they don’t.

As for the job jump. Hell yeah – an opportunity to work closely with Irvin… and money in this economy is always good too. This was a no questions move for a behinds the scenes guy like Friedo.

Like everything else, when one piece of the puzzle is missing, KTCK normally finds a way to fill in the gap – and does it so well that the b-team has been raided once already and they (other stations) still can’t catch up… THE B-TEAM.

The Ticket has always struck gold with replacements, and I see no reason why this trend won’t continue. More than likely, we will see someone from the minor leagues step up to produce Norm, but finding someone who deals with Norm’s idiosyncrasies will be interesting. Maybe the return of Rick Arnett???? :)

Friedo will be missed. I enjoyed his banter with Norm. I sure hope there’s a big pay raise that’s prompting this move. I can’t imagine he (or anyone) actually wants to work on the Michael Irvin Show. I’ve only heard it a couple times (both times in someone else’s car where I had no authority over the radio), and it’s like three hours of “Why Today Doesn’t Suck,” except somehow even less organized. Last time I heard it they burned a whole segment over who was supposed to call who to wake them up or something. I’ve heard hotter sports opinions from Kidd Kraddick.

I had rather see Korby go….he sux, and Rhynes has become his own yuk-monkey,they must be loosing advertisers too, the Ticket is runing Rhyner lease commercials into the ground, or he needs the money to put his chunky daughter through UCLA………

ouch, Mudcat. I’d say kill Corby and Rhyner, but why you gotta hate on his kid? I’d say that’s a little below the belt.

I ran into Rhynes and his daughter at Club Dada one night, and I didn’t think she was chunky at all. Quite a nice piece. She’ll fit right in at USC.

For the second day in a row I have heard Mike call Corby, “Greggo.” Is he doing this on purpose?

Cal … no, he does it on purpose. It’s just a Rhyner bit. When they have a guest on the phone, he starts the call by saying “on our phone Greggo”.

They have actually addressed this before. I guess so many people have emailed them they figured they might as well explain.

Corby suxs balls! He has the most annoying laugh (hyena cackle) that has ever been on radio. I like how he went from yuk monkey, wireless rover(Gordo wanna be) to automatic sports expert. So why is he now the foremost expert on anything OU? I thought he was a horn frog.

Musers and Bob McDowell are still A-1. Norm is Norm. All else jumped the shark long ago.

I think its funny…all the people who are jealous of Corby. Is it because he’s young and hip, somewhat good looking (at least compared to the rest of the on-air talent, and certainly most of the P-1s) and has a job that all of you covet? He’s not for everyone, but if your butt hurts…try it!
