For those who can’t wait to get them some “Hammer, you can take a few shots with him (pictures, not alcohol) as he has agreed to pick up the microphone and be a presenter at the DOMA ceremony.
One of the comments over on the Observer blog was about putting Greggo into a room full of musicians. I guess that line means all music people drink, do drugs and apply a ton of peer pressure.
If someone plans on being there to roll video on it, please let us know. BabyArm??? Will you be there rolling tape?
Richie Whitt isn’t letting this Greggo soap die and I think it’s great. Gives us more to talk about on top of funny bits. He mentioned that he was going to talk to Big Dick live, but then the plan fell through.
One of Greggo’s buddies from the Ticket was Richard Hunter, who was fired from The Ticket last year. He is known as “Big Dick”. Big Dick had his own show for a while in the evenings over at The Ticket called “Big Dick’s P1 Wild Ass Circus”. Since being fired, he removed the P1 and the “WAC“, as it’s referred to, airs over on 105.3. His website is definitely fun to look at too, because he is in with all the sluts of America.
Most P1’s will remember when Big Dick was married at the Bunny Ranch, which I believe might have aired on HBO at some point, and Greggo was a groomsman in Big Dick’s wedding. I can only imagine the partying that went on that night. I’m sure some of the working girls were “Hammered” by the Hammer.
Anyhow, Big Dick interviewed Richie Whitt and here is the audio:
My final thoughts on this is something that hit me this morning. I have no idea if Pugs and Kelly have really been let go or not, but what a perfect move for 105.3 to bring Greggo in to do a show with Big Dick! The midday time slot, two interesting hosts and all the publicity to come with it would shoot their ratings through the roof. Definitely would compete with Bad Radio, at least for a little while.
What a juicy time for Ticket fans! If you’ve read the otherposts about Richie Whitt’s article “The Hard Lie”, then you are rubbing your hands together in anticipation for The Hardline’s response. Lucky for us, they decided to go a few segments into the subject and tell their side of the story. It’s definitely good to hear someone involved put some valid points into the story rather than just reading an article from an outside source. I’m just glad Corby put his side in because the article really made him out to be a backstabbing snake.
Reading over on Whitt’s blog, a lot of people said they were probably going to miss the audio. Guess what. . .that’s what TheUnTicket.com is for! I broke them down by segments:
Segment 1 - The Hardline’s response to “The Hard Lie”
Segment 2 - Rhyner responds about phasing out Greggo
Segment 3 - Closing comments about the whole thing
FINALLY!! The question “Where’s Greggo?” has been answered. New question is, “Where’s the Greggo drops?”
As a P1, nothing has been a bigger mystery about The Ticket than the story of The Hardline. We all know bits and pieces, maybe some inside humor, or something personal about the hosts themselves. Richie Whitt, of the Dallas Observer, wrote a riveting story called “The Hard Lie”. It’s the tell all story behind the Greggo / Ticket breakup. He did not fall short of his pre-story blog posts!
The story comes from all sides and is told in a very equal tone. Nothing is held back, well, except for the comments of most of The Ticket hosts who declined to be interviewed. None of them really needed to be involved in the story except one person, in my opinion; Corby. Walking away from this entire story I am shaking my head at how crazy the Hammer had become with drug use, lies and lack of respect to his friends and co-workers, but the one thing that really sticks in my head is how Corby handled things. Seems it might have been a good idea to have Corby’s side of things since this appears to be the hardest part for Greggo and kind of paints a bad picture of Corby.
Richie Whitt from the Dallas Observer has been making all of our mouths water about his upcoming feature that paints a clearer picture behind the story of Greg Williams leaving The Ticket. There’s no doubt The Hardline has had an unfair advantage to steer the story in their favor. According to Richie Whitt, this story should let us see both sides and hear their true thoughts. Whitt has made several pre-story blog posts and while the printed copy is in some locations, most of us are still in the dark.
These are Whitt’s blogs:
This was the first one I read about the upcoming Greggo vs Ticket story.
The old-school P1’s will remember one Rocco Pendola…former noon to 3 host on the little ticket. I still keep up with his blog sometimes and it seems that he’s feeling under the weather lately and second guessing some of his life-decisions.
We are huge fans of Greggo and the Hardline just made the announcement that Greggo’s father has died. There’s really nothing one can say to make things any easier, so we’ll just wish Greggo our best and raise a beer in honor of Pappa Williams. “RIP Brotha!”
While there are many things I miss when it comes to Sweet Greggo not being on the Hardline anymore, one of my favorite unforced characters was “Robot Greggo”. It was just more greatness that he threw out without even having to try. Here’s a great montage of Robot Greggo from MacGruber’s drop page:
If you are a fan of the UFC, you should be familiar with the fight commentator Mike Golberg. He’s kind of the play by play guy of the UFC fights along side Joe Rogan. I think Mike Golberg was either a fan of Greggo or read the same “How to be a Sports Broadcaster” book. He has been throwing out quite a few “Robot Golberg” moments.
Here are a couple examples. See if there are any comparisons.
This one I think he says “A roofer water proofer life speaker tile construction worker”. It’s tough to tell 100%, but very robotic:
Here it is singled out:
This one Robot Golberg says, “The veteran voice of the octagon Bruce Buffer”.
This is probably one of the best classic Ticket moments. Motorcycle Greggo “The Hammer” Williams has so many golden audio clips, but not many stack up against the Greggo vs. David Kunkle moment. I thought I would transcribe the audio just in case this is your first time hearing it and are in disbelief of what you’re hearing.
Greggo: We’re talking to the number one cop in Dallas, the #1 cop, the commissioner, chief of police, David Kunkle.
What umm, do you like this gig?
Kunkle: No. I, I, uh, uh, uh love my job. It’s a. .. .
Greggo: I the, that wasn’t the question. Do you…do do do you like your job?
Kunkle: No, I said, do i love, maybe i didn’t understand the question.
Greggo: Ok. I, I mean do you like being chief of police.
Reading through the comments over at Gordo’s Site, someone posted a link to a picture that I also believe is a possible Greggo spotting. We all know Greg The Hammer Williams is a fan of Texas Rangers baseball. So when you look at this picture, all the reaction appears to make it seem this is, in fact, Greggo Williams.
I wonder if The Hammer dropped a big coke fart and everyone is ducking. I don’t see a baseball anywhere. (after staring more, I found the ball. ‘nutshot’)
